Who is your favorite trainer and why?
I am an instructor. I have 30 years of federal agent experience. I have over 30 years of competitive shooting sports experience, with wins in PRS, NRL Hunter, 3-Gun,Tactical Games, World SWAT, Police Olympics, USPSA and love shooting sports. I have over 25 years of continuous firearms and competition instructor experience, with beginner to advanced athletes, and I know the games. I also know most of the best instructors.
I’m ready for this conversation!
There are quite a few good trainers out there but I would have to say The Cadre personally. I say that because there is plenty of content and access. I love that that I can be on a webinar if I can’t make it in person. They are also very easy to talk to and prompt in responses with great detail and clarity. I appreciate and understand the time they put in to help build this sport. I also want to thank everyone else who helps grow the sport.
Tate is one hell of a guy, always willing to help out any competitor. Everyone can learn something from him!
Modern day sniper with Caylen Wojcik is excellent and Don Fritz with Fritz Precision Shooting is also a great choice! I’ve taken courses with both and learned a lot.
Joe Dawson of Veles Industries. why?
No war stories. Just instruction, a firehouse of information and practical application. No reticle justification. No listen me because I went to such and such school, (even though he literally wrote curriculum for those schools). It’s a focus on the “why” not just because he said so. Everything from internal/external ballistics, rifle setup, quick wind, speed drop, positional shooting, and especially tripod applications. If you are new, then go. If you are very versed in precision shooting, still go.
And he probably has the most free information that’s worth a listen available on his instagram.

Hat Creek In Idaho was a good class that comes around every so often when the Best are out protecting our nation and a class opens up. Brian and the crew are great. Also an amazing place to shoot high angle with challenging winds to make you better.
Charles, where you out of?

I can’t recommend Brian Whalen at Colorado Precision Rifle enough. That said, this isn’t meant to discount other trainers or the paths others choose. There are a lot of solid instructors out there. Speaking only from my experience, what stands out about Brian is that he doesn’t just teach you what to do, he teaches you why. He has a way of breaking down complex concepts into practical skills that actually make you better behind the rifle. Whether you’re brand new or need a tune up, I think his classes are absolutely worth it.

Couldn’t agree more on this one. I recently took the Modern Day Sniper 4 day skills course out at Nail Spring Ranch in Oregon with Caylen. It was the best course I’ve ever taken.
The dispelling of popular myths alone was worth the price of admission, nevermind all the other parts. He recently changed his online learning library over to a much more affordable subscription model and now I’m consuming all his online content as well.
Cannot recommend highly enough.
