Looking for Opinions on which is better? Bit of a thread going on Fbook, looking to see if there is a general consensus? Talking about running a dope collection day/ sight in on friday before a match or just weigh in/check in on the saturday of the match
I’ve only seen saturday check-in once and it was at your match. I was skeptical at first but you pulled it off really well. At the vernal match last weekend we were done shooting at 2pm on saturday. We easily could have fit check-in saturday morning.
Maybe the right split is a time to zero/check-dope on friday but actual weigh/check-in on saturday morning and take mv on a stage.
Maybe, that is more administrative burden for a match, and not sure it fixes anything. Seems like we are getting a split review on if it is actually better. From our feedback loops, it seems like there are positives both ways, without getting any solid direction
Concern seems to be what if my setup weighs more then my home scale and I don’t weigh-in until my 6th stage on Saturday. You could make the official scale available for unofficial weight checks on Friday or Sat AM.
“I need to zero my gun.” Make that available to people on Friday and let people make a personal prioritization decision.
“People travel & aren’t all local” I was looking to fly to a match & due to available flight times had to travel on Thursday just to make the checkin times.
With some basic logistics I think a Saturday checkin would be very beneficial with very little cons to the competitor overall.
Personally I like check-in on Friday. The majority of guys are travelling friday regardless. I’d rather start shooting earlier saturday morning rather than sit around for a couple hours waiting for check-in to finish.
But. Can’t please everyone.
I’m all for Saturday check in with the ability to sight in Friday evening if possible. Like people said, at Vernal we had plenty of time to sight in, weigh in and check in on Saturday and still shoot 10+ stages
I’ve only been able to attend 2 Hunter matches so far and I’m no expert but checking in Saturday would be helpful for my schedule. That or cutting out early on the last day to get back on the road home earlier. Out of curiosity, are people opposed to shooting 16 stages vs 18?
Thanks
I believe Saturday morning check-in is a great idea. Start check in early and push the match start time on Saturday back a bit. You are there Saturday and Sunday anyway, so you might as well shoot later in the day Saturday if possible.
I think the Saturday checks ins are awesome as long as the match runs smooth and people are ok shooting a little later on Saturday. I’d much rather shoot until close to dark Saturday night if that meant getting out earlier Sunday. Some matches just seem to move slower than others so whether a Saturday check in will work or not all depends on match flow to me.
